Ratatouille

This movie is amazinG !! i think its the best movie I've seen this yr.. its really really nice.. not extremely funny.. but its such a simple story and its beautifully told.. the animation is fantastic !! it looks so super real.. and the food.. looks really good.. Its rather different from the other Pixar movies.. and i think its the 2nd best among all of them, next to finding nemo (that movie is a real gem) ... Marche at vivo is rather small and the variety of food is not very good.. but the food is still awesome.. the snail pork sausage is amazing with rosti.. heaven.. yum yum.. Viki was drooling the whole time.. Thank God for Vivocity and bus 10 which brings us from NUS to vivo in like 15 mins.. viki and I like know the place so so well cos we go there all the time.. ha..

Praxis class is amazing.. its really really really fun ! i think its the most fun module i've ever done in NUS. the class rox.. there is only 14 of us and we all like gel quite well together.. its fun.. and everyone has their own idiosyncracies and distinctive factor which makes the group so lively and fun.. we did more improvisations today.. was really really fun.. I dunno how to describe it but its fun..

about the previous post, I was kinda angry when I wrote that.. but after a while I realised that there is no point in being angry and holding a grudge against someone.. God is right.. forgiveness is good.. I just decided to not hold a grudge against my friend.. and just accept who she is.. and I'm feeling so much better inside.. anger is bad.. so thats how long Nat can stay angry with a person. 2 days.

Ok.. I have been stepped all over by a friend.. and it doesnt feel too good.. how many more times must i accomodate her nonsense before she gets it in her thick head that people get pissed when u keep doing stuff like that.. I think she has no respect for me and the friendship we have.. I am seriously contemplating whether I want a friend like that.. and we are close.. thats how angry she made me.. I will never be able to trust her again...

on another note, big hugs to Liting and Stef... my sunshines in the rainy day... u girls really really brightened up my day.. thanks for the hugs and the laughter u brought me after being stepped all over by her..

I travelled all over singapore today.. met stef and liting for prata in serangoon then.. Decided to take 109 with Liting and get down at sengkang to take 965 straight home.. but missed the stop and ended up in Pasir Ris ! ya.. so i've been from yishun to kent ridge to woodlands to serangoon to pasir ris and back to yishun.. North East & West.. if i had gone to town.. it would have been an all island travel day. ha

Cupboards & identity

Just finished clearing out my cupboard.. its amazing, the number of clothes i have.. transferred all the stuff that i dun use often to my sister's ex cupboard and got flu in the process.. i dunno why.. just ended up sneezing like crazy.. i din realise that i have so many long sleeve shirts.. and I found alot of good stuff which i din realise i had.. and all the long lost clothing have been found.. hiding deep under the mess of clothes which once stood in my cupboard.. dad came in halfway and said.. 'nat i think we need to get u a bigger cupboard' haha.. my thoughts exactly.. well not now.. maybe in december when i have time to really clear my room and revamp it ! paint and all... ok for now, my cupboard looks tidier cos its no longer the mess of clothes all cramped together and stuffed in.. i'm satisfied.. my sister's way of solving this problem would be to buy less clothes (like thats ever gonna happen to me right?) haha.. and abt the really old and out of fashion stuff... they might come in handy for future drama productions as costumes.. ha.. ok anyways, the soundtrack of hairspray is awesome.. its really good... the actors sure can sing.. and very well i must add.. prob gonna catch the movie tomorrow after school.. since church camp meeting is postponed and all.. ya.. OH !! i was watching the new game show Identity on channel 5.. I THINK IT ROCKS !!! its so interesting lah.. and fun to watch.. kudos to the inventors of this gameshow..

1 year has passed...

Time really flies.. its been 1 yr since I left the army.. my ORD was on 220806.. now its 220807.. and I havent gone back to visit the ppl at the office.. haha.. 1 yr.. thats long right? anyways, childrens camp is in like 2 weeks.. thats FAST !! and i havent even planned anything for the decorations yet.. arrgh.. at least i've thought abt the games and thats settled.. so ya.. decoration would be a bit of a challenge though.. am feeling very lazy today.. dunno why.. i think i should start gearing up and doing some stuff.. come next week, i think i am gonna camp in central library on mondays and tuesday to like do all the readings i need to do for the week.. school has been ok i guess.. need to start doing work... no more being in a holiday mood.. tutorials start next week i think.. i got the slots that i wanted.. which is good.. u know what.. i think home is no longer a condusive environment to study.. I'm easily distracted ...

I caught The Bourne Ultimatum today with Ishu.. it was really good... action packed and it had really clever moments which were worth watching.. although i was really really lost on some instances as I din watch the 1st 2 movies.. so i'll be renting the Dvds and watching them soon to get the full picture.. but this 3rd movie is not bad.. am yet to watch rush hour 3 though.. nvr able to find people to watch it with.. anyways.. hairspray opens this week.. am so gonna watch that.. the soundtrack's really good.. might get it ...

Singaporeans are never happy..

you know what.. Last week during nation building, we learnt that Singapore is really an extraordinary country... in the world wide rankings, Singapore is like almost at the top of asia in terms of Economic Competitiveness, business oppurtunities, standard of living, Least corrupt.. etc... but we are the unhappiest people in Asia.... upon hearing the statistics, instead of like feeling proud of ourselves and our nation, all I heard around me by my fellow students was 'Sure anot?' or 'So Good meh' ... OMG... cant people wake up and realise that the land that we live in is in fact GREAT ! Then I realised that as singaporeans, we only emphasise or pay attention to the bad in given situations. And change generally affects us in a negative way.. we always tend to look at the old ways, draw comparisons, lament to the world around us about those comparisons and deduce that the change is in fact horrific or BAD! no wonder we are the unhappiest people in Asia.. we never really think about the good in certain stuff... with that in mind, a small scale observationan about this 'theory' would be the newly renovated/face lifted arts canteen in NUS.. The New canteen is excellent.. its big.. wide.. bright and airy.. and it even has burger king and a thai cafe like thingy which is not that bad.. but.. the general response I get from the students (ie: my friends) is that the canteen sucks.. and almost everyone I ask, has something bad to say about it.. like what the hell !!! anyone who thinks the new arts canteen is worst than the old one deserves to be buried alive and have the fumes from the drains at the old canteen be pumped into it.. have they forgotten how horrible and run down the old place was ??? it was old and badly needed a facelift.. so ok.. in the process of renovation some stalls like ice kachang, mini wok and chicken rice have gone.. IT DOES NOT MEAN THE NEW CANTEEN SUCKS !!! think about the new things that we have.. ok so u dun like burger king.. I too dun like burger king.. but at least its an alternative to the stalls that we lost and its cheaper than the outlets out of NUS !!! always looking at the bad things about the change.. dun these people see the good in the new canteen? ok about the long queues now, the old canteen also had those long queues.. or did they just forget abt that? and to the people that think that the canteen has lost its charm and has become more like engine canteen now, The old canteen looks like science, business and practically any other canteen in NUS other than engine !!!.. OMG I'm just so annoyed at people who have rather superficial reasons for not liking the arts canteen.. they dun even see that at least now we dun have to walk like 5 km to engine or business to get food !!! Anyone who dares mention to me that the new canteen sucks will get earful from me !!!

Random thoughts..

I am so sleepy.. but I have to plan sunday school lesson for tomorrow.. mom made excellent chicken soup today cos was not feeling too good yesterday.. ya.. I dunno what to wear tomorrow.. sigh... everyweek the same problem.. then again..I should go to church with the right heart and not care so much abt what I wear..

NAT !!! you got to stop thinking abt such nonsensical things and think abt stuff that do matter !!!!

ok.. so I cut my hair today.. ermm.. it feels weird.. my hair now is the shortest it has been in a very long time. Now I cant do the emo hair flip thingy with Daphne and Liting to irritate stef.. ha.. 1st week of school was great.. other than the China lecture part.. Sinthiya was talking to me abt it and apparently reading my post abt it made her laugh greatly.. I showed her the china notes.. cos it was in my bag that I brought to church (forgot to take the file out) .. she was like.. it was good that u dropped it .. ha.. Ok its AUGUST !! 4 mths till christmas.. 3 mths till my birthday.. yay me !

School !

Ok .. so finally ! school has started.. and I'm loving every minute of it .. until today.. I was so put off at the China lecture.. the content was so uninteresting and all the time during the 1st 30 mins of the lecture, I was thinking 'what am i getting myself into?' i think i was not the only one though, as the girls beside me proceeded to like log into cors on their laptops and dropped the module !.. they left during the break given by the lecturer around 440.. then it got me thinking, do i really want to do this module? and after much contemplating, I decided to drop it as well.. I think the chinese characters, the names and all the different types of calligraphy freaked me out.. I immediately called Ishu (as she had computer access being at home and all) and asked her to bid for an EL module for me instead.. at 445.. and bidding closes at 5.. so now, I'm doing structure of sentences and meaning instead of china's imperial past.

Ok.. but my other modules so far are interesting.. Nation building really makes u proud of Singapore and its achievements.. and being a singapore studies module, it contains alot of freshies.. ha.. For World history, there are 3 lecturers.. An Italian who specialises in cultural history, a brit who specialises in commercial and cusiness history and an American who specialises in history of Science and technology.. I tell you.. the content covered in the course is amazing.. its so so interesting.. and the 3 lecturers are rather fun too.. it was amusing as each of them had a different accent, Italian, British & American.. anyways, the arts canteen is SO COOL ! I love it.. its big, wide, bright and airy.. and the 2nd floor is air conditioned.. plus they have burger king and some thai express- like thingy.. today was stef's birthday.. had lunch with her liting evan and stef's church friend i think.. got for her ben n jerry's chunky monkey icecream.. well we all shared and ate it.. it was damn good.. feel like going down now to shop and save and get some more.. you know what? I think I shall !

BBQ, Family Gathering & Shopping !!! yeah !!

Had a great time the past few days.. Pastor Steven had his house warming/blessing on thurs, eve of National day.. he asked dad to take photos of the event who in turn asked me to do the job.. hence i was dressed for the occasion with my luminous orange camera print pull & bear tee.. ha.. thanks viki and Ishu for persuading me to buy it.. i really like that tee.. anyway, the housewarming was nice.. i think the whole church came.. so it was really nice.. to bless our pastor as a church and all.. and for dinner, we had a BBQ.. i really liked the ambience or atmosphere.. it was cool and the wind was refreshing.. although I am not a fan of BBQ food, (korean BBQ excluded) I cant help but admit that i had a good time.. and to share the moment with church people was great.. i think everyone was having a good time..

ya so anyway, national day we had a gathering at Thoma sittappa's house (dad's bro) everyone who is in singapore came.. well except for Naomi akka.. cos Dad din tell her in advance.. ya so the cousins had fun playing citadels, mafia, heart attack and our very own manimuthu family game - animals things. haha.. we watched the parade there.. wasnt that great, the show section.. I guess you need to be there to appreciate the floating platform I suppose..

Oh then on fri, mom, Naomi akka, Nicky and me went out to lunch at Vivo city.. cos mom hasnt been there.. we ate at earls.. the salad buffet wasnt that great on fri, which is surprising cos everytime when Viki and I go to earls, the buffet is amazing.. then after lunch, we went shopping.. nicky got a belt and cap from topman, I got 2 caps from Topman and a tee from pull & bear.. akka and mom bought lots of candy from candy empire.. well cos mom discovered they had a good selection of sugarfree candy.. and now she wants me to get more everytime I go to vivo as its near school.. oh and school is starting on monday.. am so excited.. this is like my timetable..

FOP-ed !!!



Went for Festival of Praise on sunday (the last day). Its was great ! I had such a great time worshipping God and his presence was so strong. It was fun going with Sharon and Ezekiel.. an unlikely group as we have never even gone out or done stuff together prior to this.. but it was fun nevertheless.. pushing our way through the crowd, looking for seats in the indoor stadium, jumping together durin the worship and all.. it was fun .. a new experience... I know I shouldnt say this but I miss hillsonG ! I miss going to one of their concerts.. the last time i went was during FOP 2005 which also happened to be august the 5th.. but then again, the focus of FOP is not on the man but on God.. and it was just amazing worshipping him together in such a large crowd.. Overall i thought the two worship leaders' style complimented each other.. Delirious started out first .. you know that they are family ! the lead singer, drummer and keyboard player are each married to one of the 3 sisters of the bassist so they are like all in-laws .. haha.. so anyway.being the rock band that they are played heavy tunes and everyone started jumping and praising God to their tunes of 'Solid rock' 'rain down' 'history maker' 'majesty' 'i could sing of your love' & chris tomlin's 'How great is our God'.. then Don moen played the violin for one of their slower worship songs.. I really felt the presence of God so strongly when he played the violin and i felt extremely peaceful and filled with the joy of the lord.. its a feeling I can't explain but it was awesome.. Don Moen then Belted out his famous songs like 'God is Good', 'Hiding place', 'GOd will make a way & his lady back up singer led in the singing of 'I worship you almighty God' .. It was awesome.. the presence of God was so strong.. the night ended with the crowd celebrating Jesus, clapping loud and jumping to 'celebrate Jesus Celebrate'. What an awesome end to an awesome encounter with God.. Ezekiel sharon and me plan to go for FOP next yr together as well.. ha.. talk about advance planning.. Oh ya I bought the delirious Cd - 'now is the time'

The cd is good.. good to listen.. well actually I feel that Delirious's songs are more of 'listening' songs than 'worship' songs.. cos some of their songs speak of what is happening ard us and how God is necessary in our lives etc.. which may not be suitable for worship.. Ok i think i just confused you.. well.. if u get me then good for you.. but I love the CD and the songs !! they are great.. just not suitable for worship though..

Finally after weeks of planning and contemplating on what to do, I have decided on the modules I am going to take this coming August.. it feels good...

HY2206 - China's Imperial Past : Culture and History
HY2229 - Nation Building in Singapore
HY2246 - Introduction to World history
TS2233 - Praxis in Theatre and Performance Theory
GEK1529 - Food & Health

Looking at this, it seems as though I have followed Ezekiel's and Stef's suggestion by taking option 2... but I know wat you're thinking.. where in the world did China and Food & health come from right? haha.. well.. decided to do food and health over understanding the universe because its a bio module, which is much better than taking a physics module which I have no background in.. ha.. and China just fit nicely into my timetable and as a history major, I'm encouraged to do a module each from the various sections offered by NUS so that we get a broad knowledge of history first .. ha ! .. the sections are world history, cultural history, military history, SEA history, East Asian history, South Asian history, American History. So last sem I've done empires which is world history and Sport & history which was cultural history.. this sem am doing nation building (SEA history) , China (East Asian history) & Intro to World history (world history, duh !) besides I knoe nuts about china.. so it'll be good to learn.. hopefully it doesnt prove too difficult..
