POST 190 - Coffee addict..

so in the midst of exam stress.. I realised that my driving test is at 825 tmrw morning and not 915.. which means i have to wake up at 615 to get ready so that i can be on time for the warm up at 730. which means i cant study tonight.. prob go and sleep after typing this post.. anyways..

today was probably the first time i broke down in tears in the middle of a church sermon.. the word was so strong today and I just couldnt help it.. an array of emotions, anger, unhappiness, stress.. She was talking about being burnt out.. which is exactly the way i have been feeling ever since the start of the year.. the cause of the burnout? wrong intentions.. am i just doing it for the sake of doing it? or to be recognised.. to be noticed by God? to be blessed by him? "Lord its too much! are u there watchin me? do u notice me? I'm tired lord" - this was the line she said which intiated a waterfall.. nvr have i felt this way before.. it was soo convicting.. learn to be like Mary.. not Mother mary.. but Martha's sister.. who rested at Jesus's feet.. its all about him..

the struggles of being a christian.. cant help feeling hypocritical.. can nvr understand it totally.
oh and eazy.. i'm not as special as i seem to be.. trust me.

Nat's Passion..

I have been reflecting upon my life these past few days.. and being rather emo abt certain stuff.. wondering whats so great about my life.. and i was enlightened.. Looking through my collection of pictures, I found out what is my true passion.. not music.. not theatre.. not history.. but Children.. what can I say.. I just adore kids.. in a clean, non-padeophilic way.. Children's ministry is one of the few things I'm really passionate about.. and I'm extremely grateful to be part of it.. I marvel at the creativity that God has bestowed upon me.. the ideas for the Children services .. the ability to draw and paint, decorating the place, transforming the sanctuary into a different world altogether.... the storys that he places in my mind which in turn get converted into mini plays used during the services.. I guess I'm more into Children's theatre... so.. here's to my passion and to the Lord who gave me this gift..

MARCH 2006 - Jesus my superhero.

This was the first children's service i was asked to get involved in.. Came up with the whole concept after listening to Hillsong kids - Superhero.. so the story goes like this. Two kids disobey and are captured by the super villain- madame sin and her minions, torture and suffering. The kids then they cry out for help for someone to come and rescue them. The superheros enter, batman first followed by sharkboy & lava girl, the powerpuff girls & lastly the X-men but all of them cannot defeat the supervillian madame sin. In the end, Jesus arrives and saves them by taking their place on the web, afterwhich he gets free and defeats madame sin.

JUNE 2006 - The Great Space Adventure

So this was the VBS for yr 2006.. we engaged external help to teach the kids lessons and all.. I was like.. instead of just calling it a children's camp.. why not have a funky theme to it.. hence 'The Great Space adventure - our world revolves around the son" was created.. the slogan was inspired by a t-shirt my brother had.. haha.. and i remembered that we created a space rap to go along with the camp.. was soooo fun.. the kids had fun drinking alien juice and collecting stars and from the milky way.. etc.. u get the drift..

I drew the logo when i was bored in the office during my NS days.. it goes to show that doodling has its advantages..

SEPTEMBER 2006 - The Royal Family.

Ok so for this, I was inspired while reading the bible one day.. 1 Peter 2:9 - 'for you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation belonging to God' or something to that extent.. it kinda spoke to me that God has chosen each and every one of us.. to belong to him. The Royal Priesthood thing stood out the most. so thats when I got to thinking. Why not have it as a theme for the next Children's service.. since kids love to be princesses and knights in shining armour.. so the Royal Family was born.. the logo again was drawn during a boring day in the office during NS.. and I came up with the following story. Peter and Sarah who are kids who look down on themselves and think that they are useless and good at nothing. One day they get transported to a fairy tale land by accident. They get scared and want to get back home. Crying out for help, they meet their fairy god mother who tells them that if they want to go home they need to find the secret verse held by the royal family living in the castle. She then conjures a star to lead them to the castle.. On the journey they meet an ogre who doesnt allow them to pass unless they can fix its toaster, if they cant the ogre would eat them.. Peter manages to fix it, exposing a hidden talent in fixing things. Next they come across a witches cottage where 3 witches demand that they resurract dead flowers if not they would be imprisoned.. not knowing wat to do.. Sarah sings to calm herself.. but her sweet voice brings the flowers back to life, exposing her talent of singing. Then the children head to the castle and they find Jesus.. they ask him where the royal family is and Jesus hands them mirrors telling them to look in them to find the royal family.. he goes on to tell them that each of them is special and are part of his royal family. Jesus then recites 1 Peter 2:9 which is the secret verse, Transporting Peter and Sarah back.. likewise we then explained that every kid in the audience is special and are part of Jesus's royal family.. we called the children prince and princesses the whole day..

March 2007 - The Groovy Gospel Disco.

So March 2007 came along.. and this was the most rushed among all the children's services.. had 4 weeks to come up with something and was inspired by my disco themed christmas tree at home.. hence the groovy gospel disco was born.. chose a theme song 'Jesus in my life' and the slogan 'everything is ok, everything is alright, I've got Jesus in my life' and came up with a mini drama involving 4 dancers.. each with their own personal story to tell and how Jesus helped them overcome their problems. (fear, failures, salvation) Attaching relevant songs to those scenarios we choreographed funky dance moves in which we got the kids all dancing in the Groovy Gospel Disco... The church was sooo colourful i tell you and was so nicely decorated.. but I din take any pics.. waiting for paulyn to email them to me..

SEPTEMBER 2007 - The Deep Sea Dive

So this was the VBS for 2007.. we got a camp speaker to teach the kids and stuff.. but like the previous year, decided to come up with an underwater theme to make the whole thing more fun.. hence the deep sea dive was born ! in terms of decoration.. this was far the best decorated VBS ever.. the church was transformed to an underwater paradise.. with lots of fishes crabs and other forms of marine life.. it was colourful and wonderful.. kudos to all the ppl who helped decorate the church..

MARCH 2008 - The Gospel cinema: The Return of Madame Sin.

So this time, I thought it would be fun to bring Madame Sin back.. haha.. originally wanted to create a film as i was inspired by my film modules at school.. but thought a drama would be less time consuming.. The church was converted into a cinema.. with popcorn machines and movie posters of fake bible story like movie posters, with the main feature of The Return of Madame sin.. This time, we showed the birth of sin from the time of creation.. and Madame Sin returned with her minions Torture and Suffering in efforts to capture as many ppl as possible.. she then tempts 3 ppl.. to steal, to disobey and to lie.. they fall for her trap and are captured.. they cry out for help asking their best friend, mother and sunday school teacher to help them respectively.. but to no avail.. In the end, Jesus comes and once again takes their place in the web of sin and eventually defeats Madame Sin..

So.. there are 2 more events coming up.. a children's service in June and VBS in december. VBS 2008 would be 'The Candy Paradise - Jesus, Sweeter than Honey'. May God inspire us to come up with something for the June Programme.. To him be all the Glory.. if not for his strength and his blessings all this would not have been possible.. I'm just an empty vessel.. waiting to be filled.. I'm just an instrument.. waiting to be played.. God he reigns !

Mundane

Ok the reason that my blogging has decreased significantly is due to the fact that my life has been pretty boring recently.. who wants to read a post filled with me bitching about school work and the hours i spend in typing essays and memorising lines? no way am i relieving those moments by blogging. Anyways, I cant believe like a third of the year is coming to pass and hopefully i pass my driving on the 28th. I'm such a hopeless driver that i nearly banged into a lorry last week.. oh man in the event that i actually get a car in the future, i'm sure gonna spend alot on repairing it or repainting it.. due to the foreseeable dents and scratches.. sigh.. sigh.. anyways, helped nadia out in moving sets for the west wing for the past few days. and all thats in my mind are the songs of the show.. 'the wind blows the candles out' it was pretty fun helping out, not to mention the bridge sessions.. too lazy to upload pictures.. ha.. but they credited me twice in the programme.. first as Nathanael Victor and another time as Prasanam Abraham.. how cool.. hahahaha.. and stef's mom makes awesome chicken & hotdog stew.. well i think it was chicken.. nevertheless it was awesome.. woot ! hahaha and Nadia thought that Suhaimi, my sec school classmate was the director of Asian boys.. she was like.. nat u know who was sitting in front of me that day.. and i was like.. yes he's suhaimi hashim.. my sec school classmate.. hahahahahahahahaha.. nadia i love u..

COLDWAR !

Ok so had a cold war mcq test today.. 50 questions.. think i'm gonna fail.. i just cannot remember all those Russian/hungarian/Bulgarian/Czech/Polish/Romanian names.. they all sound really foreign.. why cant they name themselves peter and john and save us the trouble.. anyway one of the questions in the test was hilarious.. i actually laughed out when i read it.. its as follows

It improved the lives of ppl there momentarily until the soviets found a way to depose the czech leader as he was being 'uncommunist' in his leadership. so the goodness only lasted during the spring.. hence the prague spring.
