The Prince @ Mississauga
So the friends (cheok & nita) and me decided to go check out one of the largest malls in Ontario, Square one at this city called Mississauga.. so on a wonderful tues afternoon when one of my class got cancelled, we took the bus down.. we missed the bus we were originally supposed to take and ended up taking the next one which was 2 hours later !!!! anyways.. square one is probably the size of 3 vivo cities?? or maybe even bigger.. it was ok i guess a bit different from the singapore malls.. it had 4 department stores !! walmart, zellers, sears, the bay.. we checked a whole bunch of stores but nothing caught my eye. Maybe i'm just not into the canadian sense of fashion. Also it being autumn and all, there was no point buying things which looked nice, cos i cant wear them back home in sunny singapore, maybe only in the freezing LTs of NUS.. but i did buy a bunch of stuff from H&M.. I LOVE H&M !!!! and i bought another pillow from walmart, so last night i slept in extreme comfort.. yeah !!!

The Prince is updated..
so the best friends (Ishu and Cedric) went to visit my little niece on behalf of me.. haha.. and they sent photos.. I know I'm weird, but the first thing which came to my mind when I first saw this photo was HOW COULD MY MOTHER PUT SUCH AN UGLY TABLE CLOTH OVER THE COFFEE TABLE !!!!!.. yucks.. the coffee table back home has got a beautiful glass centre with rod iron carvings underneath it.. but all that is masked by this hideous white flower motif... yucks yucks yucks !

So spent the whole of sunday sleeping, after 8 days of going out alot.. woke up at 12pm.. went online for a bit.. then met Cyrus, this guy from Hongkong for lunch, went back to the room and slept till like 730pm.. haha.. i went for my residence meeting half an hour late.. but it was ok.. then a few of us played cards and went to google earth and checked out satellite images of our houses.. and played a bit on the flight stimulator.. was soo cool.. signed up for an indoor soccer thingy.. I KNOW !! nat and soccer do not mix.. but what the heck.. its all for fun.. I think the other ppl cant play as well, we're gonna end up making fools out of ourselves and laughing alot during the whole process... which is more fun than playing soccer i guess.. haha.. and Andrew (this guy from new zealand) & I were thinking of taking up fencing classes at the gym.. well you nvr know, I could be good in it.. hahhaa.. dream on prince..

The Prince has outdone himself..
So School at the uni of Guelph started on thurs, 4th Sep.. I'm doing 5 history courses.. hope I don't die.
Gender and Sexuality in History
Environment and History
History of the Modern Family
American Society
Popular Culture and Punishment
So, Gender and Sexuality in History was the first class at 1030am.. went into the classroom at 1025 thinking I'm early.. but when I entered, it was filled like about 200 students and the lecturer had already started.. so while everyone stared at me, the weird exchange student, I made my way quickly to an empty seat, stepping on someones shoe in the process.. and I whipped out my notebook and started taking notes.. the lecturer went on to talk about gender theory and queer theory quoting various ppl I've nvr heard of in my life.. and after a good half an hour, I looked at the notes of the person beside me and realised that I was in SOC2200 - canadian society... I WENT TO THE WRONG CLASS !! and I found out that the class started at 1000 !! so I walked in half an hour late to the wrong class and was taking down notes for that class for a good half an hour !! I've outdid myself.. So as I was sitting at the corner and tedious to get up and leave, I just sat there for another half hour listening to the lecturer go on talking about sociology.. omg I felt so stupid..
Next class was Environment and History... I entered the room and asked this girl whether I was in the correct class... and this time i was.. yays !! and I proceeded to tell her about wat happened before this.. she laughed, we became friends.. environment and history was interesting.. I feel that its a natural science or geography module more than a history module.. Cos firstly, the lecturer said that she was a rural sociologist and environmentalist than a historian.. also, the module looks at the environmental problems and phenomenon around and how they relate to history.. not so much about how the history of the place affects the environment, so ya.. we had group discussion which is nvr a good idea, cos we ended up talking about places to shop downtown and end of summer sales.. haha..
So the next class was American Society.. so the following was the course description and wat I thought I was signing up for..
This course is a study of selected aspects of American society focusing on the 19th and 20th Centuries. Specific topics, which will vary according to the expertise of the instructor, may include such themes as War and American society, the Jacksonian Era, Civil War America, or American popular culture.
but this is wat we are actually doing.. Animals in America: A history..
ANIMAL HISTORY !!! well at first I was like.. wth !! but then I realised that it could potentially be really interesting.. I've never done animal history before so it could be great ! and the lecturer was this funny lady who reminded me alot of serena's mother from Gossip Girl.. so yup.. another not so history module..
Next up, History of the modern family.. met the girl from the environmental history class.. we were happy to see each other ! yay !! but then again, I randomly started talking to ppl sitting around me so yah making friends is not really an issue I guess.. and ppl here are so much friendlier than the non-theatre NUS students back home, with the exception of the cool history friends as well.. so the module is really interesting.. and the lecturer was like.. ok guys, those who think history is about memorising dates and events, you would be surprised in this module..this is more of a sociology module than a history one.. I'll be talking alot about childhood, family and gender roles.. I was like OMG, Uni of Guelph history modules are sooo cool.. all interdisciplinary..
so that was my first day of school.

The Prince Boogies at Guelph..
Yes.. finally after traveling all around the world.. well north america, I've finally settled down in Guelph.. moving in day was fun, played many orientation games with the other students, made lots of friends and it was cool to hang out together.. so it was me, a girl from finland, another one from spain and sweden, 2 guys from denmark, a guy from NZ and another one from Australia.. and of course our 1 local canadian girl.. talk about an international crowd ya.. so that was day one.. sitting and chilling..
day 2 was cool, met the other 2 singaporeans from NUS at Guelph.. went downtown, and realised that everything shuts down on a sunday.. look at this..
This is a mall at downtown Guelph at 1pm in the afternoon on sunday.. compare it with Vivo on a sunday, where you have to brush through the busy crowds and point your face up just to gasp in a few breaths of air..
So we went to the chocolate shop.. they had really cool stuff.. and the friendly sales person allowed us to take photos in her shop.. how cool.. vanessa was havin a field day.. i guess excessive photo taking is one of the qualities which make up a typical young singaporean.. almost everyone has like at least 800 photos on facebook..
I got icecream.. smarties flavour.. well I know, I dont like chocolate.. but it looked interesting so i got it.. was ok i guess.. prob chocolate lovers would appreciate it more..

then it was back at school to check out the other orientation activities, I got a free bag by helping some ppl nail 2 planks together to make a shed.. and we got free snow cones at the campus for christ crusade.. Ok.. we are gross.. Vanessa actually highlighted events on the orientation booklet thingy they gave us which gave free stuff away.. so ya.. it pays to hang around girls. they are soo organised.. haha..
Anyways, the highlight of the day was the pep rally.. where its like each hall showing boogie or mass dance to the rest of the school.. its a competition and really really fun.. so there was alot of cheering, shouting and crazy behaviour.. which was AWESOME !! I LOVED LOVED LOVED IT ! Canadians are fun as well.. but rather toned down compared to the craziness of singaporeans.. (I kinda missed sharon when we were screaming like crazy at the pep rally) anyway, to sum it up the pep rally was great.. and my hall's mass dance was a mix of music which included 'care bear countdown', 'thriller' and 'never gonna give you up' I screamed when 'never gonna give you up' came on.. and got stared at by a bunch of other ppl.. then I went on to explain that I was a big fan of rick astley.. haha.. but it was difficult learning new steps to that song, I kept doing the mambo moves at first.. but got used to it in the end i guess..
Ppl cheering?

getting ready to dance..
